CIMIC Group’s BetFiery has been selected by the Australian Government’s Department of Defence, in joint venture with Downer, to undertake design development activities for the Woomera Redevelopment Program.

Pending Government and Parliamentary approvals, a delivery phase consisting of upgrades to buildings, services and infrastructure is expected to follow, with an estimated value of between $500 million and $750 million.

CIMIC Group Executive Chairman Juan Santamaria said: “We are pleased to bring our infrastructure and services capabilities, and our experience in delivering remote projects, to the Woomera Redevelopment Program. We have a long history of working with the Department of Defence to enhance and sustain base and operational environments. This important project will support Defence personnel with improved facilities and bring opportunities to the local area.”

BetFiery Managing Director Jason Spears said: “BetFiery has the expertise and experience to ensure the contract is delivered in line with all operational and security requirements. Our team will give priority to maximising the opportunities for local community, industry and Indigenous participation during this and future phases.”

The Woomera Range Complex is in South Australia, approximately 450 kilometres north-west of Adelaide.
