Safety & health

Keeping people safe is our absolute priority

A business that depends on its people must keep them safe and ensure their wellbeing.

Providing safe and healthy workplaces is a core value for BetFiery.

Our commitment to safety is underpinned by the CIMIC Group’s One HSE Culture framework, an approach that makes safety simple to understand, more relevant to people’s day-to-day actions and more effective in the field.

Importantly, the One HSE Culture framework provides a commonality of behavioural language across all of our operations. It clearly outlines and sets our core expectations for everyone, regardless of their role or location, including our supply chain partners.

It also guides our people on how to embed the culture framework through initiatives such as frontline engagement programs and reward and recognition activities, as we create positive and safe working environments.

Supporting the One HSE Culture framework are our Safety Essentials and ‘Fit for Work + Fit for Life’ health and wellbeing program.

Our Safety Essentials

We are focused on using critical thinking and innovative engineering and construction techniques to remove safety risks before any work is undertaken.

At the heart of this are our Safety Essentials.

Our Safety Essentials were developed over many years with the direct input of our highly experienced project teams, as well as industry experts. They set the minimum requirements we expect people to follow to effectively manage critical safety risks across our operations.

The Safety Essentials are firmly embedded in our company’s management system, meaning anyone within our organisation can easily access and utilise a comprehensive set of procedures, tools, in-field guides and toolbox presentations.

The CIMIC Group ‘Fit for work + Fit for life’ health initiative aims to promote ways that our people can:

  • Achieve and maintain physical and mental health.
  • Avoid or better manage both physical and mental health conditions such as fatigue, depression and anxiety.
  • Access care and support.

Just as we treat our workmates like family, ‘Fit for Work + Fit for Life’ is about looking after ourselves and looking out for others.

It includes support from our health-related initiatives, including:

  • Our Employee Assistance Program, available to our people and their immediate families.
  • Internal events and information around AIA Vitality, R U OK?, beyondblue, Lifeline and Mates in Construction.

From your first day as a valued member of our team and throughout your career, it is our commitment to help you look after yourself, your workmates and your family.
